Men joined the discussion. One said makeup improved his mood and confidence. Another asked how to spend a night with his girlfriend without revealing his bare face. The proposed routine was familiar: sleep later than her, remove makeup only after she was unconscious, then wake early enough to reapply it.
Nobody in the thread treated this labor as unusual. That was the joke.
Beauty anxiety changes pronouns
Other users said it was 2026 and men deserved access to the “beauty dividend.” A mock traditionalist complained that modern men no longer maintained standards: they did not wear powder, decorate their hair or let it grow long like proper men of the past.

The pool cannot guarantee truth

That does not mean the original claim described a widespread male practice. The post’s viral life came from commenters building an alternate social world where men must remain beautiful through sleep, water and romantic proximity.
