According to a popular Chinese opossum meme, this is fortunate because the darkness provides cool shade.
A sixteen-image RedNote collection turned work, poverty and failed ambition into tiny advantages. A life with no sweetness is good for weight loss. Plans that fall into soup become delicious. Seeing the end of one’s life demonstrates excellent eyesight.
More than 5,000 people liked the collection. Nearly 3,000 shared it, ensuring that nobody faced the darkness without a correctly captioned rodent.
Every setback contains a smaller benefit
The memes follow a strict resilience program: identify catastrophe, then praise an irrelevant feature.

“Everyone laughs at me. Fortunately, I am also the funniest.”
“My life has twists and turns. What a bargain.”
“They all look down on me, and I refuse to prove them wrong.”
This is positive thinking after the positive outcome has been removed.
The speaker does not overcome the problem. The speaker changes the product description. Darkness becomes shade. Failure becomes economy. A dead end remains a route.
The opossum declines responsibility
One recurring image says the animal cannot carry responsibility because it has sloping shoulders. Another describes the adult achievement of becoming 牛马, the “cattle and horse” of exploited labor, after dreaming of becoming a small animal as a child.
The collection’s opening boast says: “What can you compare with me? I never look at what day of the week it is when I work.”
A commenter asked whether this was because every day was a workday.
The opossum did not clarify its schedule.
Weakness becomes an honest brand
Traditional motivation says strong people do not complain about their environment. The meme replies: “But I am weak.”
That sentence is funny because it refuses the compulsory identification with strength. Not everybody wishes to turn pain into growth, exhaustion into ambition or a ruined plan into a new five-year strategy.
Sometimes the available achievement is noticing the shade.
The future remains dark.
At least the opossum has found somewhere cool to lie down.
